Join us for a half-day online training on the new Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (PPA) in Alberta. This course is designed for individuals with a strong understanding of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act, including those who have completed our previous FOIP training.
With the repeal of the FOIP Act, Alberta’s public bodies must adapt to new legislative requirements, and update policies, procedures and programs under the ATIA and PPA. This session will provide an in-depth review of the key changes, their impact on compliance, and the necessary updates to policies and procedures. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, ask questions, and explore real-world applications.

Participants will examine and work through criteria, policy, problem-solving, decision-making and strategies for collecting, using, disclosing and protecting personal information, data derived from personal information and non-personal data, within their public body in alignment with the Alberta Protection of Privacy Act (PPA). Certificates of Completion will be provided to participants.

Participants will focus on the processes, problem-solving and decision-making involved in administering the public’s right of access to information in their public body as a requirement under the Alberta Access to Information Act (ATIA). Certificates of Completion will be provided to participants.

Participants will focus on the structures, policies, processes, problem-solving and decision-making involved in developing and implementing an effective program in compliance with the Alberta Protection of Privacy Act (PPA) and Access to Information Act (ATIA) in their public body. Training will include guidance on the creation and implementation of a Privacy Management Program and Privacy Impact Assessments. Certificates of Completion will be provided to participants.

This half-day workshop will be presented live online. The course will present key principles and rules of the Alberta Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (PPA) along with scenarios and examples relevant to the world of governing and elected officials.
