Provincial freedom of information and protection of privacy legislation affects all functions and employees working in government and local authorities. Do your employees and contractors know how to recognize a FOIP request or ensure that personal information they are handling is secure and properly used and disclosed?
This half-day workshop provides an overview of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) legislation for both government and the Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (LAFOIP) legislation for local authorities, providing general coverage of key concepts, scope, access processes, and privacy requirements set out in the legislation. The workshop is geared to any and all employees, contractors, executives, and governing officials who are not directly responsible for FOIP in their organizations, but need to understand the fundamentals of the legislation to manage the information they create, use, and maintain. The following organizations in Saskatchewan are currently subject to FOIP and LAFOIP:
- Provincial Government Ministries
- Provincial Boards and Commissions
- Crown Corporations
- School Boards
- Post-Secondary Educational Institutions
- Health Authorities
- Public Libraries
