With keen insight in the fields of privacy regulation and information management, Rick is able to demonstrate complicated concepts to clients in ways that are easy for them to understand. He is able to work with complex information and systems and effectively divides information problems into manageable, accessible components so that every organization can be productive. His passion for strategic information management, a strong academic background, combined with a practical approach, makes Rick an invaluable business consultant for his clients.
Creating relationships that generate lasting results
Rick’s high-energy, supportive personality helps him build relationships with clients that generate lasting results. He has broad experience in developing and implementing privacy and security compliance initiatives and interpreting and applying legislation. He also has extensive experience and knowledge of provincial and federal privacy legislation and its application in the health sector. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and leads Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) training sessions in communities across Alberta.
Rick has held and is still active on several Boards including the Legal Archives Society of Alberta and the Association of Canadian Archivists. He has an MA in Archival Studies and in History.
An active “community Dad” and avid soccer fan
As a father of two young boys active in hockey and an Irish-dancing daughter, Rick is a busy “community Dad” in his spare time. A first-generation immigrant and an avid soccer fan, Rick is still mourning the loss of the Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup final. For those of you who follow the English Premier League, he is a Tottenham Hotspur supporter.
